Simple Pleasures
When it comes to my favorite things, I tend to gravitate towards objects that have meaning, or bring me joy. I believe there is an intimacy we share with our favorite things, they may have a story to tell, or they may simply become a part of our story once we bring them into our lives. With the seasons changing, I am enjoying warm cups of coffee and tea in my favorite mug, spraying my favorite scent on before I leave the house, and enjoying beautiful flower arrangements in my favorite vase. It's so easy to fill our homes and our lives with passing fancies, I am definitely guilty of this, but when we add things that bring us joy we know they will stand the test of time.
My Victoria Morris vase holds beautiful cut flowers each week, sometimes I arrange a festive bunch, and sometimes I create a simple arrangement from my garden. The one pictured here was a house-warming gift from my mother. Similar here.
This Tubo Sara coffee mug is my constant companion at home. In the morning I enjoy my coffee in it, and in the evenings it holds a cup of calming Ginger and Lemon tea. Every time I see it I am happy. I love knowing that it was handmade in LA by the wonderfully talented Mitsuko Ikeno. Grab one in the R+W shop and enjoy it all year long.
I never leave my house without my La Labo Fleur D'Oranger 27 perfume. When I was pregnant with my son, I developed a strong aversion to perfume and cologne that has stayed with me. After my son was born I tried so many perfumes hoping that at least one of them would leave me without feeling nauseous, but after years of trying and failing I gave up. One afternoon a couple of years ago, I was walking down Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach with a friend and she suggested I try Le Labo. I knew of their candles from the Gramercy Park hotel (they created the famed hotel's signature scent), but I had no idea that they made such delectable perfumes and colognes. I was immediately drawn to Fleur D'Oranger 27, and have never looked back.
